What is our jewelry made of?

Modified on Fri, 22 Jul 2022 at 01:42 PM

Our jewelry is constructed with plating over a base metal. Most jewelry across our brands has brass as the base metal; a few styles have zinc alloy.  We use real gold, silver, and rose gold plating over our base metal.  Our plating standards vary by brand.  For Rudiment, Dusk, and Ava Rose brands, we use 14K gold and rose gold plating or fine silver plating over brass. Our demi-fine brands use 18K gold plating over sterling silver.

What is IP plating? Ion plating (IP plating) is a new modern technique for a variety of applications. This process is used to complete accessories crafted from stainless steel. It is five to eight times more durable than the traditional plating methods and is available in many attractive colors such as black, rose gold, and yellow gold. The standard care routine is also easy. It can be cared for by wiping clean with a dry, soft cloth after wear.

We use semi-precious stones in many of our styles as well.  These include opal, agate, quartz, jasper, labradorite, aventurine, moonstone, garnet, and amethyst.

Detailed plating, base metal, and materials information can be found on the product detail page for each style that we carry.
